Description

mangrove root wood, lime, red ochre, charcoal, sago leaf fibre, water stains on the back

The typical cone-like projection “cemen” carved with a small ancestor’s head, another one below. The shield corpus in high relief decorated with four large-scale motifs (flying fox). Decorative tassels of sago leaf strips on the rim largely preserved.


The object War shield “yamasj” with the object ID 3047813 was last part of the auction 96th Auction at April 24, 2021 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 95 achieved a sales price of EUR 2,000.
