This is a fine example of an “octopus type” club found in southern Malakula and parts of Ambrym.
This type of club was collected during Captain Cook’s visit to Malakula in 1774 and was published in an engraving by James Roberts (cf. Hooper, 2021, p. 225, fig. 83).
The object War club “ne’i na-hit” with the object ID 3051960 was last part of the auction Auction 104 at April 12, 2025 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house and had the lot number 180.
