wood, black patina, habile handle, flat corpus, elaborately decorated with accurate incised ornaments, accentuated with white pigment, min. dam., fine cracks, slight traces of abrasion;
at the far eastern point of New Guinea lies Milne Bay and the islands of the Massim Area, often incorrectly referred to as the “Trobriands”. The Massims designs are often based on stylized bird heads, which are carved in an interlocking manner to form a type of “Greek” scrolling.


The object War club with the object ID 3036904 was part of the auction 77th tribal art auction on June 28, 2014. The object with the lot number 45 achieved a sales price of EUR 200 with an asking price of EUR 150.
