Description

wood (frame and grip board), rattan, animal skin,
Elsen describes this type of shield as “very old and rare”. Only because of the resin layer on them, they could become much older than most of the simply braided shields.

The shields have large handle plates on the back, which are fixed with particularly decorative cord binding. The edges are trimmed with varan skin.

The object Very old and rare wicker shield with the object ID 3048916 was last part of the auction 98th Auction at March 26, 2022 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 255 achieved a sales price of EUR 470.
