Untitled, 1956 · Barth, Heinrich (1911-1967), Würzburg, Germany · ID: 3044894
Description
oil on canvas, sign., wood frame
Already interested in painting at an early age, Barth received painting and drawing lessons from the well-known German artist Gertraud Rostosky, who lived temporarily in Wurzburg. Only after the turmoil of the Second World War was he able to devote himself intensively to painting. The result was sketches, ink drawings, watercolours and, above all, impressive and strong oil paintings, such as this one. Remarkable stylistic confidence and consistency characterize Barth’s entire oeuvre.
