light brown wood, blackened in parts, bottom with pokerwork ornaments, h: 19,5 cm; additional a miniature stool, h: 11,5 cm; both carrying the collection number “7W465” at the base, min. dam., small missing parts, slight traces of usage;
Mangbetu women used to carry stools with them wherever they went. But only Chiefs possessed two storied stools in order to sit on a higher level than the surrounding women.
