“edan” staffs were important ritual objects of the “ogboni” society. They were worn around the neck as a symbol for membership. They protected their owners against diseases and played an important role during funeral celebrations.
The object Two ritual staffs “edan oshugbo” with the object ID 3031072 was last part of the auction 68th tribal art auction at March 3, 2012 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 409 achieved a sales price of EUR 800.
