Description

a) pair of “cheptisun” earrings, sheet gold, 15 carats, weight: 21 g (pair), ornamentally embossed, with red glass cabochon, slight signs of wear, h: 6 cm, w: 5.5 cm, g: 21 g

b) pair of “cheptisun” earrings, sheet gold, 11 carats, weight: 10 g (pair), ornamentally embossed, slight signs of wear, h: 4.8 cm, w: 4.2 cm

The embossed ornaments symbolise the sun and its rays. This type of ear jewellery was usually attached directly to the ear by the goldsmith. Worn objects without significant damage are therefore difficult to find.
