Description

short wooden shaft with iron lance tip, the wooden cases elaborately decorated with floral motifs in high relief, dyed in red and gold, slightly dam., traces of corrosion (blades);
court art, in the so-called “Kraton” style.
“Kraton” is the name of the sultan palace in Yoqyakarta, Java. The building of this “town within the town”, which takes a quarter of about one square kilometre and is entirely enclosed by white walls, began in 1755 among Sultan Hamengku Buwono I. and was finished in 1792. In 1812 the “Kraton” was plundered by english troops.
