Description
a) Sumatra, Batak, magic book “pustaha”, tree bark, folded in the form of a leporello, bound by two wooden covers, m: 19.5 cm x 14 cm (book cover), h: 8.5 cm
“Pustaha” contain texts, prayers and spells written in ritual language, interspersed with magical drawings. The six Batak languages each have their own script, which is written horizontally from left to right.
b) Bali / Java, “Lontar” manuscript, palm leaf, wood
“Lontar” manuscripts deal with various aspects of life like religion, astronomy, astrology, history, genealogy, homeopathy, healing, epics.
c) India, Naga, two brass ornaments, d: 4.7 cm & 5 cm
