These two masks were collected in situ in a small town near the border with Benin. The masks were found lying unused in a separate hut. It is said that they had not been used for years and had been sold by the villagers in order to use the money to commission the carving of new masks.


The object Two helmet masks “gelede” with the object ID 3046541 was part of the auction 97th Auction on November 6, 2021. The object with the lot number 98 achieved a sales price of EUR 2,900 with an asking price of EUR 2,000.
