Curt Eduard Pilz (1879-1927), Frankfurt am Main, Germany

The mining engineer C. E. Pilz was a member of the Hanseatic South Sea Expedition in 1909 and also worked for the Royal Dutch Shell Group (founded in 1907), travelling the world in search of crude oil. He died of malaria at the age of 48.
