wood, middle brown patina, nearly identical formed: painted eyes with sickle-shaped slits, diamond-shaped mouth, accentuated with red paint, ornamental decor in black colour, raised scarification marks, slightly dam., minor missing parts, paint rubbed off, rep. (backside on the rim);
among the masquerades of the “ekpo” society exists a great number of quite different mask types, which may be separated into two distinct groups, the “idiok” and the “mfon” masks.
The object Two face masks with the object ID 3032202 was part of the auction 68th tribal art auction on March 3, 2012. The object with the lot number 98 achieved a sales price of EUR 800 with an asking price of EUR 300.
