Description

wood, reddish brown patina, black paint, a) dignitary staff with indicated female breasts, incised decor, partly encrusted patina/abrasion of paint; b) dignitary staff with articulated upper part of the body, cross tattoo in pokerwork, nozzle from brass sheet, slightly dam., crack, possibly rep. (above nozzle);
staffs with female heads depict “nana yakoma”, the guardian of the holy fire - sacred objects of the old Ovimbundu chiefs.
