Description

wood, a) larger bird with amalgamated legs, encrusted greyish brown patina, dam., cracks, h: 23,5 cm, base; b) bird with incised feathering, dark brown patina/shiny in parts, cracks, insect caused missing parts (foot zone, base), h: 17,5 cm.
Such bird sculptures were made and placed on shrines by command of the “thila”. They should protect their owners from impending danger.


The object Two bird sculptures “lumbr” with the object ID 3042662 was part of the auction 87th Tribal Art Auction on November 11, 2017. The object with the lot number 138 achieved a sales price of EUR 450 with an asking price of EUR 200.
