Description
wood, reddish brown patina, small traces of camwood powder backside, drilled pupils (with inlay), typical style characteristics of Abeokuta carvers: loincloth, “egba” tribal marks, crested coiffure and unusual position of oversized hands, slightly dam., minor missing parts (above all on the backside and at the bottom of the base);
beautiful and fine worked example with the sign of the carver at the bottom of the base.
The object Twin figure “ere ibeji” with the object ID 3041589 was last part of the auction 85th Tribal Art Auction at March 4, 2017 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 290 achieved a sales price of EUR 480.
