Description

ivory, reddish brown and black patina, the head piece carved with four mask faces, two of them highly stylized with pierced nose, diamond-shaped mouth piece, the bell-mouth cut hexagonal, carved ornaments at the lower rim, painted ornaments in the area of the mouth piece, slightly dam., minor missing parts (disc-shaped head piece), fine crack, base;
Radin and Sweeney locate a stylistically comparable trumpet with the Fang (compare GVR 0054283).
