Description

wood, animal skin, nails, rectangular shape with tapering upper- and lower ends, frontside covered with hide, wood strips on both sides, upper rim originally covered with palm fibre, two separate carved massive handles on the backside, incised ornaments at the same place, dam., cracks, water spots, traces of old age;
shields of this type were exclusively used by the king in case of war.
