wood, a) standing “bateba phuwe” with elaborated coiffure, shiny patina, min. dam., h: 17,5 cm; b) long-legged “bateba phuwe”, small missing parts (foot tips), base, h: 30 cm; c) “bateba ti puo” with arms stretched out, min. dam., fine cracks, slight traces of abrasion, wooden base, H: 29,5 cm;
“bateba ti puo” show a defensive attitude, elevating one or both arms aside the head in order to ward off invisible enemies; they are effective in fighting witches as well.
