Description

wood, red patina, white pigment, of characteristic simple and abstract form, slightly dam., figure with disc-shaped headdress dam. by fine crack, each figure rising from a small plate;
the Konkomba, who call themselves the “Kpamkpam”, live on either side of the Togo-Ghana border. Their religious activities, in which divining and libations play an important part, mainly involve a cult of the earth, purification and reconciliation rites, and ancestor worship.
