Description
wood, red patina, white pigment, of characteristic simple and abstract form, slightly dam., figure with disc-shaped headdress dam. by fine crack, each figure rising from a small plate;
the Konkomba, who call themselves the “Kpamkpam”, live on either side of the Togo-Ghana border. Their religious activities, in which divining and libations play an important part, mainly involve a cult of the earth, purification and reconciliation rites, and ancestor worship.
The object Three figures with the object ID 3039179 was last part of the auction 81st Tribal Art Auction at October 31, 2015 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 294 achieved a sales price of EUR 200.
