Description

wood, brown patina, kaolin, traces of red pigment, the face to the front provided with vertically incised scarification marks underneath the eyes, slightly dam., cracks, traces of insect caused damage
Possibly once serving as head piece of a reliquary ensemble. Reminding of the “ngontang” masks of the Gabon peoples.
