“Wayang” is a Javanese generic term for theatre performance, such as the traditional shadow puppet theatre “wayang kulit”, or performances with puppets “wayang golek” or with human dancers wearing the wooden masks “wayang topeng”.

The “wayang topeng” theatre performance mainly is set in the kingdom of Jenggala. Especially popular is the love story of crown prince of Jenggala, “Raden Panji” and princess “Candra”.
