Description

massive club head from heavy stone with burls in two rows, drilled in the middle for putting on the shaft, fixed by plaited rattan cuffs, partly dyed with red pigment, slightly dam.;
the Angu, also called Kukukuku are a small and previously violent group, living mainly in the high, mountainous region of the south-western Morobe province. Even though they are a short people, they were once feared for their violent raids on more peaceful villages living in lower valleys.


The object Stonehead club with the object ID 3039361 was last part of the auction 82nd Tribal Art Auction at February 27, 2016 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 46 achieved a sales price of EUR 500.
