Description
reddish pigment remains, in kneeling posture with crossed arms, hardly recognizable facial features, min. dam., traces of abrasion, on base;
the Kissi believed that these figures personated their forefathers. When a chief or another important person died the “pomdo” was buried in a rice field or next to a tree planted by the deceased.
The object Stone figure “pomdo” with the object ID 3033298 was last part of the auction 70th tribal art auction at September 8, 2012 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 191 achieved a sales price of EUR 700.
