Description

burnished light-beige clay, painted with creme white, light brown and blackish brown, seated cross-legged in the hands-on-the-knees pose, holding a round shield and a club in his hands, helmet-like headdress with chin strap and neck protection, ornamental facial paint, abrasion, minor chips;
warriors had very special status in Moche society, for warfare was an important ritual activity, which also achieved the practical goals of gaining or defending land. A very high percentage of Moche art depicts warriors and military activities
