Description
fired clay, globular vessel with twin spout and bridge handle, exterior decoration consisting of polychrome painted anthropomorphic deities, one on either side, each with cat-like head and fish-like body, tongues out and holding rattles and panpipes, fine condition;
the Nazca artists had managed to develop a whole series of fireresisting colours applied to vessels before firing. The themes chosen are affected by a strong symbolism but do not show any individual representations of princes, priests or warriors.
