Description

light wood, matt greyish brown patina, partly encrusted, extremely high-legged, arms shortened, striking broad neck and large face, marked by a flat nose with hanging tip and slanted eyes, grooved coiffure, bulky feet, slightly dam. (coiffure, mouth), missing parts (left foot) through insect caused damage and weathering, abrasion of paint;
a work by the “Master of the almond eyes”.
probably belonging to the type of “bateba yadawora” (“sad bateba”) who express deep grief with different gestures and adopt the suffering of their owners.
