Standing male figure · Gabon / Cameroon · ID: 3049472
Robert Lewitzki, Celle, Germany
Description
wood, base
The front of the figure shows a thickly encrusted sacrificial patina, especially on the body. There is a cup-shaped hole in the crown for insertion of magical mass.
The figure was originally located in Cameroon (Duala). Coppens considered an origin from Gabon, possibly from the Kande (Okandé) of the middle Ogowe region more likely.
A clear geographic / ethnic assignment of the figure seems difficult to us.
The object Standing male figure with the object ID 3049472 was last part of the auction 99th Auction at November 12, 2022 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house and had the lot number 54.
