Description

wood, slightly encrusted patina, remains of pigments, plant fibre, handwritten collection number “FC 9090” at the left foot, min. dam., small chips (toes), cracks, base.
Probably the male part of a “yasangbanga” couple. Only little is known about the specific use of these figures, but early eyewitness accounts suggest they were placed on altars and received sacrifices. It is presumed that they are equivalent to “seto” und “nabo” , the primordial couple of the Bwaka.
