Description
wood, slightly encrusted patina, remains of pigments, plant fibre, handwritten collection number “FC 9090” at the left foot, min. dam., small chips (toes), cracks, base.
Probably the male part of a “yasangbanga” couple. Only little is known about the specific use of these figures, but early eyewitness accounts suggest they were placed on altars and received sacrifices. It is presumed that they are equivalent to “seto” und “nabo” , the primordial couple of the Bwaka.
The object Standing male figure with the object ID 3043709 was last part of the auction 88th Tribal Art Auction at March 10, 2018 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house and had the lot number 475.
