Standing male and female figure
Description
light-coloured wood, remains of brown patina, the arms carved close to the crude carved bodies, the male with a broad shoulder/breast area, the female in contrast with narrow sloping shoulders, the head of the male rising from a short and strong neck with the facial features angular and sharp cut, while the head of the female is round with a projecting back of the head and more indicated facial features, slightly dam., traces of insect caused damage (male figure) and missing parts (base of the female, base of the male missing completely), cracks, on metal plate;
both figures show traces of ritual sacrifices (feathers, traces of pouring liquids). The Tamberma are neighbours of the Lamba and Losso, living in Northern Togo. The meaning and function of their figures is not researched up to now.
