Description

wood, dark brown patina, rising from large, separately carved feet, body and head entirely coated in a net-like costume of raffia bast with a striped decor in black and brown, grass fibre skirt, nassa snail eyes, nose and mouth sewn on the costume, opening in the head, slightly dam., minor missing parts (in the costume and at the left foot);
the small figure wears the characteristic costume of a mask dancer. In Sambia such figures and miniature masks are used to educate initates about the various mask types and their meaning.
