Description
wood, blackish brown patina, eyes inlaid with metal sleeves, characteristic egg-shaped head with flat chin and large projecting ears, beautiful modelled body rising from long legs, slightly dam. (nose tip), cracks (head), abrasion of paint, missing parts (foot tips), metal base;
presumably part of a pair of figures, depicting mythical or real ancestors. They were kept in the house of the clan leader or in small shrines, where they received sacrifices to keep them well-disposed.
