Description

wood, brown patina, without feet rising from a round base, dressed with an apron and vestment made from striped cloth, the upper part of the body carved rather flat with short arms, the egg-shaped head with delicate carved facial features and visible teeth, framed by big ears, min. dam., crack (face), slight traces of abrasion, on wooden base;
the Sundi live in the northern estuary of the Zaire (Kongo). Like their neighbours they used to carve a great variety of fetish figures in different sizes and with different paraphernalias attached.
