Description

wood, greyish brown patina, kaolin, rising from a basket-like receptacle, carved with a miniature half figure to the front, characteristic face with a spectacle-like framing of the eyes, “boat-shaped” coiffure carved with an animal horn, slightly dam., crack (right face half, breast), missing parts (both forearms), on metal plate;
presumably depicting a fetish basket, used in context of initiation rites.
