Description

wood, matt patina, remains of polychrome paint, presenting both hands with the palms turned upside, crowned by a voluminous headgear, dam., missing parts through insect caused damage (right hand, foot tips), cracks, on wooden base;
figures like this were used to be kept in ritual houses of communities and families. Once a year they were presented in public. The relationship between man and deity was strengthened by celebration and sacrifices.
