Description

wood, painted in red and yellow ochre, kaolin, symmetrical arranged body in static posture, raised circular tattoos on the temples, bold headcrest, the form of the trunk recognizable on the backside, inscribed “AJP 136”, slightly dam., minor missing parts (nose), cracks, paint rubbed off, traces of weathering (above all at the lower rim), on pedestal;
presumably coming from the interior of a men’s house “obu nkwa”, called “House of the Images”.
