The hole in the figures navel once contained substances to engage the ancestors supernatural powers on behalf of the owner.
The figure wears a distinctive headgear/ haircut with concentric grooved pattern/ hair strands. Face and body are richly decorated with scarification marks.
A comparable, albeit larger figure, illustrated in Cornet (1978), p. 144 (see also AHDRC 0000212). Headdress, facial features and scarification marks show similarities.
The object Standing female figure with a hoe with the object ID 3046618 was last part of the auction 94th Tribal Art Auction at March 7, 2020 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house and had the lot number 361.
