wood, kaolin, metal, baase

Possibly the work of the carver Son from the village of Nuopie. Son, who like his father was the blacksmith of the village, came to carving very late, already beyond the age of fifty, through a visit of the master sculptor Sra (ca. 1885-1955). According to Fischer, Son’s quite extensive oeuvre was likely to have been created in the period from 1945/50 to the late 1970s.

A pair of Sons figures, from the Edmondo Trombetta Collection, was auctioned on 24 October 2020 as lot 117 at Zemanek-Münster (AHDRC 0178705).
