Description

wood, base

Figures of the Dan are rare, because the possession of a figure was connected with a blood sacrifice, in most cases of a cow, and the celebration of a big feast which not everybody could afford.

The figures are portraits of living persons, often even carrying the name of the represented human.

The object Standing female figure “lü mä” with the object ID 3044768 was last part of the auction 90.I Tribal Art and 90.II Contemporary Native American Art at November 17, 2018 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house and had the lot number 140.
