wood, reddish brown patina, slightly dam., crack (filled with mass), missing part (base), on pedestal;
with fine scarification and well-tressed hair representing the very ideal of female perfection in Baule culture and probably carved as a wife from the other world. The gentle swelling of her stomach, emphasized by the gesture of her hands, suggests her pregnancy.
