The figure shows a beautiful rich patina, which is heavily rubbed in the mouth-nose area and on the belly. She wears an elaborate hairstyle and is richly decorated with scarification marks on her belly.

The position of the arms is particularly striking. This can be found in a series of other small female figures, all of whom are crowning “kibango” staffs of office (cf. AHDRC 0031313, 0031314, 0031326). According to Nooter they represent foundresses of certain royal lines or other historically documented female characters.


The object Standing female figure with the object ID 3051039 was last part of the auction Auction 103 at November 16, 2024 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 220 achieved a sales price of EUR 3,200.
