Description

copper alloy (bronze, brass),

This figure is published in the research paper by Chappel, Fardon and Piepel, Surviving Works: Context in Verre Arts, 2021 (p. 235, ill. 753). The figure was acquired by Chappel in 1966, as was a second female figure (ill. 801) attributed to the Verre artist Yawam of Lainde. Due to the great formal and stylistic similarities, the authors consider it very probable that this figure is also by the hand of Yawam.

Chappel, Fardon & Piepel show two other figures that can be assigned to this canon of figures. A male figure that came to the Jos Museum in 1966 (“Toft Hansen figure”, p. 234) and another female figure that was sold at auction at Christie’s London on 13 July 1977 as lot 161 (p. 237/ AHDRC 0097490).

The object Standing female figure with the object ID 3050355 was part of the auction 101st Auction on November 11, 2023, lot number 257 at that time and is currently available for EUR 2,000 in Open sale.
