Throughout Mendeland mostly female figures were used for ritual acts of the different secret societies (“sande”, “njayei”, “humoi” or “yassi”).
They have a protective role and therapeutic function, and are usually
intended for curing diseases resulting from the transgression of interdictions.
The object Standing female figure with the object ID 3047302 was last part of the auction 95th Tribal Art Auction at October 24, 2020 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 114 achieved a sales price of EUR 2,200.
