Description

wood, brown patina, kaolin, rising from high columnar base, originally provided with separately carved arms, which are missing now, min. dam., traces of insect caused damage (base), cracks, abrasion of paint.
Large wooden sculptures of the Tiv were called “ihambe”. At least one “ihambe” statue or a whole ensemble was placed in front of the family compound.


The object Standing female figure with the object ID 3042990 was last part of the auction 87th Tribal Art Auction at November 11, 2017 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 311 achieved a sales price of EUR 720.
