Description

wood, brown patina, kaolin, rising from high columnar base, originally provided with separately carved arms, which are missing now, min. dam., traces of insect caused damage (base), cracks, abrasion of paint.
Large wooden sculptures of the Tiv were called “ihambe”. At least one “ihambe” statue or a whole ensemble was placed in front of the family compound.
