Description

wood, stained greyish brown patina, extremely sloping shoulders, short arms, rising from bulky feet, the face raised, drilled holes in nose, lips and ears for attachment of ornament, incised tattoos at the corners of the mouth, slightly dam. (nose, mouth, chin, left ear), cracks (back of the head), rep. (left foot), abrasion of paint, base;
probably used in connection with fertility rites (bulging belly of a pregnant woman, accentuation of sexual characteristics).
