Description
light brown wood, shiny blackish brown patina, string with white miniature glass beads, the neck carved with rings, sacrification marks on the upper part of the body, dam., missing parts through insect caused damage (feet), cracks, paint rubbed off, base;
the ethnic group of the Atié settling in the eastern part of the Ivory Coast’s Akan territory to the south of the Agni, sometimes already considered to be part of the Lagoon Peoples. Their figurative sculpture serves both, the veneration of the ancestors and the ceremonies of the “logbu” ritual.
