Description

wood, reddish brown patina, eyes with metal inlay, disproportionately long neck, lozenge-shaped face with reduced facial features and side lobes, slightly dam., missing parts (tips of the plaits, both forearms, front part of the base), cracks, strong abrasion of paint, base;
the few figures known from the Malinke show a stylistic mixture pointing to their neighbours, the Bamana, Mossi and Dogon. Round projecting shoulders, prominent breasts and coiffure of present figure reminding of the “jo nyeleni” figures of the Bamana.
