Description
wood, rich blackish brown patina, slightly shiny, the arms amalgamated with the body, a columnar neck supporting a proportionally small head, provided with a fine grooved coiffure and delicate regular facial features, scarifications on neck and body, slightly dam. (base backside), paint rubbed off, socle;
the Atié are an ethnic group settling in the eastern part of the Ivory Coast’s Akan territory to the south of the Agni, sometimes already considered to be part of the Lagoon Peoples (Ebrié, Alangoa…). Their works of art are stylistically intermingled, their objects difficult to ascribe.
