Description
wood, rich brown patina, traces of black paint (back of the head), with a broad and flat facial plane, pierced ear laps, slightly dam., scratches, abrasion (breasts), hairline crack backside, socle;
presumably coming from a shrine, were it was used for the ancestor cult. Such figures were covered with white clay (“hyire”) to indicate their spirituality.
