Description

wood, partly encrusted brown patina, strings of coloured glass beads around legs and hips, carrying a ritual vessel on the head, neck plait, min. dam., fine cracks, on wooden base;
the Ebrié are an Akan group, living at the eastern Ivory Coast. Only few sculptures are preserved, for they soon had been exposed to the influence of christianity and synchretic religions.


The object Standing female figure with the object ID 3033938 was part of the auction 71st tribal art auction on November 24, 2012. The object with the lot number 178 achieved a sales price of EUR 7,000 with an asking price of EUR 6,000.
